94% of China comes from the Han ethnic group. However, the Yunnan province has 26 minority groups that makes it the second most diverse of China’s provinces. Yao Zu (瑶族) people can be traced back to the Hunan around 5 CE. As the Hans expanded into southern China, the Yao Zu moved into Guizhou, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Yunnan.
